What do you do at MileShyClub?
I joined MileShyClub as Sports Admin Assistant. It’s a really varied role and I absolutely love it! I’m here to answer any queries we get on email or from our social media channels and also love interacting with our members in the Facebook group. I edit the photos and videos sent to us from our fabulous coaches to create content for all our social media platforms and also attend sessions to record footage and meet some of our runners. I’ve been really busy behind the scenes updating our websites and online presence and coming up with ideas for new events and social gatherings. It’s my responsibility to write the newsletters to keep all our runners up to date with the latest news from MileShy and Ive been working hard to promote our fantastic running and walking groups. It’s been great to see new people signing up because of this!
What is your favourite event - running or non-running related?
I’ve done lots of different races from Fancy Dress 5Ks right through to the London Marathon. There are lots of other different races I love for lots of different reasons but if I had to pick just one event to do forever it would be parkrun. The parkrun community is just amazing and I love how inclusive the event is. There are so many different locations to try out it’s impossible to ever get bored of it and the parkrun challenge app has added even more fun with lots of weird and wonderful challenges to complete. I also love volunteering at parkrun and volunteering at junior parkrun is my absolute favourite!
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
I hate to sit still and can usually be found outside. My main passion is running, although I’m currently having a love/hate relationship with it as I’m still recovering from an awful ankle injury. I’m a qualified Run Leader and Running Coach and volunteer with one of my local running clubs where I tend to lead the 5K groups, supporting new and returning runners at the back of the pack. I love hiking and spend a lot of time in the Peak District and Lake District. I completed the National Three Peaks Challenge a few years ago and more recently completed the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge. We’ve started cycling more as a family this year as my three year old is now too heavy to carry on long walks, so I’m looking forward to getting out and about on the bike more now the weather is getting better. I’m always looking for new experiences and have a to-do list that only ever seems to get longer and longer!
